I have another match coming up march 17th, this time we are going out to 200 yards. And im wondering what your experience is with ammo with the least amount of velocity spread? .22lr

Thank you

I heard subsonics were supposed to be more accurate but i sighted in shooting federal american eagle shells then switched to remington low noise rounds. The low noise were on the ground before they made it to the target at 150 yards. I dont thing even if you lobbed a 45 degree angle you would get 200 out of them lol.

In the ammo's that we have tested...Wolf MT and CCI SV had the least standard deviation from the velocity median... meaning they should be more accurate, all else being equal.

Was Eley Tenex tested? I would imagine it has a relatively low velocity spread as well.

We tested 20 or so loads that we were able to get locally... Elet Tenex was not one of them. It was a while ago but I will record the ones that I remember off hand ( I will probably forget two or three);

CCI Green Tag
CCI Standard Velocity
CCI Sunsonic HP
CCI Mini-Mag HP
CCI Mini-Mag Solid
CCI Velocitor
CCI Stinger
Winchester Super-X HP (36)
Winchester Super-X (40)
Winchester 555/333 (same load)
Winchester Wildcat
Winchester Subsonic HP
Remington Target
Remington Thunderbolt
Remington Yellow Jacket
Remington Subsonic
Remmington Viper
Wolf Match Target (MT)
Wolf Match Extra (MT)
Federal 745 HP (36)
Federal 510
Federal 711B

Remember, I am only talking about velocity consistency, not accuracy... we were pleasantly surprised to find CCI SV and Wolf MT in the top three for velocity deviation... and we went with the CCI SV due to cost and availability...

Accuracy is a different story... and depended on which gun we were shooting... our semi's, bolt's and lever's netted different results. CCI SV were in the top five for all guns for accuracy... when we crunched the numbers... SV were the best all round load considering consistency, accuracy and cost. I will say this... stay away from Remington!!!

The only time I shoot Remington is when I am gopher shooting, then the Yellow Jackets come out. Out of all the ammo I have used, these anchor them the best.

I went to the range yesterday with my CZ 452 and the Yellow Jackets made a group of just over 1" with five shots at 100 yards. They are devastating on the gopher population. The Remington Game Loads printed 1 3/4", so depending on the rifle, Remington ammo is just fine.
