How much does the Lowey weigh, compared to how much the bare Harrell weighs? I think the weights have their place when trying to tune heavy contour barrels, such as straight 0.9", or in my case when trying to tune for ammo that is naturally way out of sync with the bare rifle. dnttech, (Bob), from RFC emailed me some other documents on tuning, they are in my Google drive if you'd care to peruse them h t t p s://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/my-drive named Purdy-PRX and Tuning the Ezell.
Yeah, Dave, I know my testing wasn't ideal. After running through the coarse adjustment with Standard +, I looked in my ammo bag and went "crap!, I only brought one box?". Like I mentioned, in a few weeks this tuner is getting bored out and finding a permanent home on another rifle. I think I answered the question I went in with, "Can a tuner be used to 'tune in' ammo that is consistent, as seen over the chronograph, but simply out of tune with the bare rifle?" The answer seems to be "yes". Can it be tuned as well as ammo that is naturally better in tune with the bare rifle? Plausible, but needs further exploration.
I've seen dnttech (Bob) remark that he spends more time testing and tuning than shooting for score, lol
