I wanted to get a set of fully adjustable sights for my M&P 9. Having no luck finding a set of Novak sights I ordered a set of LPA - SPF02SW fibre optic sights from CRAFM for $149. Great service and fast shipping by the way.

The sights showed up today and I was impressed when I inspected them. All metal and seems very well made. After work I was like a kid on Christmas morning and it was straight down to the gun room to install them. Installation went well and both front and rear sight fit the dovetails perfectly. Got both centred and that's when things got a little goofy. The rear sight has a design that really doesn't make sense for the M&P. There are two allen head screws that secure the rear sight. The screw on the right side is directly over the striker block. If you screw it down at all it presses down on the spring cap and interferes with the movement of the striker block. But no problem there is the second screw. I barely had the second screw snug and the the allen hole rounded out. When it happened I thought "please let it be the allen wrench that rounded, but no", it was the screw. These screws must either be made out of a very soft metal or I got a bum one because like I said it was just getting snug when it rounded out. On the plus side LPA does provide a good quality allen wrench, it didn't round off at all. The sight is secure so as long as I never have to remove it all will be good. And if it does come loose I'll just swap the two screws.

After install was complete, and the cursing of the screw gods was finished, it was out to the range for sighting in. This is my first pair of fibre optic sights and I must say I like them. They light right up and makes for very quick target acquisition. The windage and elevation screws move with solid clicks and seem like they will stay secure.

So other than the rounded out allen screw, these seem like they are going to be a good sight. I'm glad I already had an Apex competition AEK installed because I don't think I'll be getting that sight off to access the striker block any time soon. V:I:

Was it much trouble removing the stock sights?

No, not at all. The front sight is in pretty tight but I put two layers of electrical tape over the end of my punch so it wouldn't mar the sight or the slide, and two or three good taps and it came right out. Just remember to remove the sights from left to right.
