LPVO for short-barreled .308?

NX8 is the standard by which I compare all other LPVO's.

Not a bad place to start my friend. When I bought my first NF there weren't many options that I liked besides Leupold Mk series.
Now there's a myriad of comparable choices on the Canadian market. But when it came to another target/varmint scope I had no interest in any other name brand. Yeah. I am stubborn as a mule.
Buy once, cry once.

Cheers

Heck yeah Brutus. I have an SHV 4.5-14x as well. I had wanted someone to make a scope to that exact concept for years. I was so excited when it came out. I have not been disappointed. It's really well built, I rolled a quad over it that broke my Vortex spotter in half. Slight ding on the windage cap. Didn't even lose zero.

Wow. I guess you were thrown clear sir!
The NF reputation for toughness grabbed me from the get go. Night hunting kangaroos via truck off road.
Glad you can speak to it's reputation first hand JD. ;-)

I was not completely thrown clear. The way it rolled part of it crushed my helmet into the ground. I am glad I always wear a helmet on ATV. Had I not, well I'm not sure, but I suspect it might not have buffed out.
Moral of the story is Nightforce is very well built and wear a helmet on a quad haha.

My friend you should send this tale to NF Optics as a testimonial. In peacetime use your story is about as rough as life can become.
Thank god for that bean cover buddy!

Depending how much of a factor your budget is, Go Big Tactical has a demo Minox zp8 with the m80 (7.62) reticle for 2150, (46 percent off). If you pay by EMT you can get an extra 5 percent off with their EMT promo code.

Good scope. Is it 4k$ good ? Debatable. Is it 2k$ good ? At that price it's untouchable.

Well, I've got a new Winchester XPR Stealth on the bench and ordered the Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24mm scope with ACSS KISS reticle - I like the simplicity of the design. Chevron point for precision with some really easy MIL subtensions for hold over. We'll see how it compares to my Bushnell 1-4x24mm, I'm expecting it to be slightly better all around but it looks pretty chunky too so mounting and ring heights will be a thing in order to keep the overall package nice and compact.

cant wait to read your report.

I have a Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS that will be going back on my 12.5" Maverick. Love that scope. I have one question that's not a total thread derail: During my week of hunting this year, the need for backup sights arose. Problem with a mount (scope rail was loose on another gun) and I had to take a day to go home, loctite and re-zero. As I plan on hunting with my Maverick in the spring, I'd like both irons and my PA scope if possible. This is how it was mounted. Is it possible for both buis and an lpvo to exist? Move it forward on the rail and shorten the stock one click perhaps?

in your case another set to have a spare red dot or another scope with the mount is the easiest and cheapest solution.

That thought had crossed my mind. The only concern I had was ability to maintain a repeatable zero if I had to remove my scope/mount and replace with another scope/mount or red dot. Then again, I'm probably overthinking it.

a quick detach mount or rings or any system retorqued properly will work for you. you need to try it to believe it.
