LPVO scopes on brush rifles - low power variable optic

Bush gun is a red dot… Not a fan of the small eye box on LPVO…

Use a Vortex 1-6Viper Gen 2 on my semi auto .223 but that’s a plinker mainly.

My bush gun I don’t think I’ve ever shot past 50yards with it, maybe a coyote at 100y but at that distance I didn’t need the magnification.

45-70 Gov with Leupold with Illuminated Ballistic dot ret & 2-7X33

Tried a 1-6X & 1-8x but the 20 mm obj eye box is too small and image to dark in low light.

1-4 Bushnell Prime is all you need.
The glass and quality is nothing short of excellent at that price point.

Athlon Helos BTR gen2 2-12X42... very impressed with glass. side focus goes to 10 yds which can help refine image quality when in a hurry.

illumination of reticle makes for either a nice 'dot' at low mag or multiple aiming solution at higher mag.

pm or email if I can help.

I have two right now, a Bushnell Prime 1-4x24mm with illuminated German #4 reticle on a 35 Whelen single-shot. Makes for a super compact package OAL, glass is good, mounts low and with good eye relief, great brush or stand rifle. The other is a Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24mm with the ACSS KISS reticle on a Winchester XPR Stealth in .308 - basically an updated "scout" rifle with a rail and swapping between SLx and a red dot instead of back up irons. Hasn't really been given a workout yet, but the center chevron and MIL scale makes for easy hold overs and it's at least as good optically as the Bushnell with a wider magnification range. Will be a toss up between these two packages this spring so one will get a bit of a workout.

One scope that surprised me in the last couple years was the Redfield Revolution 2-7.

They are a nice little scope with nice glass at a very good price, if you can find them anymore. Very good value.

i had that on my first 375 ruger but i prefer now the 2.5-8x36 but the revolution was indeed a great scope at a very nice price.

I like the 2.5-8s as well. I own three of them right now, with one as a spare.

I chose the 2-7 for this short action as it was a bit smaller/shorter and leaves the 2.5-8 for another long action I have in the safe.

Just curious ...

If I may ask, are you the same Foxer who had a custom holster created for his Ranch Hand?
