I’ve been wanting to put a thumb hole stock on my large ring M98, intermediate length action, custom build.
The action started life as Yugoslavian made Herters.308 Win. Now it’s a .22-250.
I’ve liked the Boyd’s thumb hole on other rifles, but from what I can tell Boyd’s doesn’t offer a thumb hole for this length action.
Anyone have experience with thumb hole stocks for this action? Or other stocks for this length action?

No specific experience with that length, but have installed / fitted several mauser stocks. The action screw hole dimension - centre-to centre - is pretty important number to know for sure if you are ordering a "pre-inletted" stock. As well, can also get caught by the trigger guard - two lengths of "tongue" were used on them - originals had the little locking screw forward of the main action screw and resulted in a "longer" nose to that tongue - other versions had the locking screw behind, or omitted completely, and they have a shorter nose. Both lengths of trigger guard "nose" had exact same action screw center-to-center spacing. Can open up a "short nose" stock inletting to fit a long nose trigger guard, but not the other way around - results in a 3/16" or so crescent moon shaped gap.

Thanks Potashminer. I’ve noticed the things you mentioned. I was hoping for a drop in fit and haven’t found the Boyd’s offering a thumb hole with the ctr to ctr screw spacing that I need. They do offer a non-thumb hole with that spacing, but it doesn’t look any better than the stock I already have. Maybe I’ll have to get a blank and inlet it myself or just make the whole stock out of a big chunk of Walnut I have...I just wasn’t feeling that ambitious.
