LRB/JRA/M1A M14 receiver semi-auto build

What is it about the receiver/trigger group design and build characteristics of these rifles (I want an LRB) that makes them semi-auto legal and nonrestricted as compared to the original M14 which was potentially full-auto via selector switch and thus illegal and prohibited? How likely is it that the RCMP could ban the LRB on the potential of its being modified to full-auto?

There are cutouts that would have to be machined into the receiver to install the selector switch. The RCMP decide what they want regardless of logic or common sense so it's impossible to predict, but there really is no such thing as a firearm that's safe from arbitrary reclassification. Ya gotta live yer life man.
 
Actually you would have to add material to a semi auto receiver to make an M14 select fire rifle. With the Liberals in power any semiauto has risk of being reclassified.
