Hello All!

  1. Loving my Chinese M14Ss
  2. SHaking my head at my latest Springfield (there is an UNBELIEVABLE amount of play between the receiver and the barrel when they are not torqued ultra tight into index!)
  3. Contemplating an LRB......thus the following questions:

Just wondering if anyone here has ever played with an LRB M14SA? Is there an existing FRT for them? How does the US state department feel about exports? Anyone successfully imported one that would be willing to share stories? If so, how do you like it?

In a previous post Savage replied to my comment that an LRB receiver would cost twice what a Norinco rifle would cost by saying they will be closer to three times "once they are landed" seems like a hint to me.

LRB recievers had a retail MSRP of $669.00 U.S.

Supposedlly a very nice, new manufactured Forged reciever. But for the price of the LRB landed here (if they will ship to Canada)you could have THREE COMPLETE M305s!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe drop GG&FB a PM in regards to LRB recievers.;)

Just my $0.2

Thanks for the mention SKBY.

LRB kicks ass, have had my paws on them many times over the last few years (Shot Show), I've been waiting for the 1913 railed receivers.....they are the bomb.

The LRB is a piece of beauty........the only thing nicer are the TRW's and Winchesters I've touched over the years. (No SA or H&R in my hands yet)

Are they worth the $$$$$......in the US....yes.....but in Canada.....not a chance. As previously stated an LRB would be 3 times the cost of a M14s (M305). Do I want one.....yes.....would I spend the $$.....eventually....yes......is it justified.....not at all.

As I have said many times in the last few years.......we are spoiled here in Canada....a $400 M14s is a deal....and sooner than later the $400 M14s will be part of the 'Good ol' days'......."I wish I had bought one (or two) when I had the chance" will be said by many.

So.....if you have the money and time to waste.......go for it (LRB)......but the Norc will be work just as well.

As for the logistics.....I don't believe there are any LRB's in Canada yet... have no idea if they are on file in regards to FRT.

Thanks guys!

I have a large number of chinese M14/305s already, as well as a couple of springfields. As GGFB said, although the cost is way up there I still lust after that beautifully finished LRB.

I recognize that the chinese receivers are a steal and agree that if someone is wanting to get into the M14 world here in Canada that functionally there is nothing better. For my latest build though I'd like something that is not only functionally beautiful but also esthetically beautiful.

So again, does anyone here in Canada have one? Is there an existing FRT for it? Any beta on the US State Department's pulse re export?

Thanks....

x2 We are very lucky to be getting complete M14's for this price!!

The LRB M1913 and M25 models of the M14-family design have scope mounts built into the top of the receiver. One on the ring and another in place of the clip guide. I hope you are considering one of these versus regressing fifty years to post-Korean War US military small arms planning principles.

Hey brobee, why dont you do a poll and get committments followed by some cash. And talk to Questar and make an order.Yea pinko rinko,s are ok .You could almost fit a 30 06 in the chamber, and they are still, fukin commies.and almost certainly our enemies.

Just a thought...Have you considered stripping a Norc receiver and refininishing and re-parkining it? The cost would still be less than an LRB receiver and would be just as nice.

Given the choice... I chose to go with ChiCom receivers over LRB.
LRB are getting dimensionally closer to USGI, but they are not yet
as dimensionally perfect a copy of USGI as the ChiCom receivers.

Brobee, you should talk to Smith Enterprises that have the LRB receivers listed on their web site as for sale as part of a complete rifle - see what they can do for you in terms on getting them into Canada.

Just a thought

P.S. I love my Norinco M14A, but I would also take a LRB M25 receiver in a heart beat!

I've done some homework since my first post; I'm no longer worried about the path into Canada for while it's something of a minor bureaucratic pain in the a@@ there is little uncertainty that US export/CAN import will be allowed. Now I'm just curious to hear from folk who have played with all three: Norinco, springfielf, and LRB and in that context how do they like their LRB?
