Here's the deal,

Rpal completed,
Ordered M213 from Canadammo,
Shipped April 1, 2009
Already have new PAL/RPAL license(received today)

Do I have to apply for my LTATT with the 679 form before or after I get my firearm, or will an LTATT be issued to me automatically.

Please, can we keep this Alberta only for anyone else that also might have this question sometime in the future.

There are so many mixed answers, I am hoping for a new, clear answer.

Thanks,

I am assuming that you have given your RPAL number to CanadaAmmo. With this they will start the transfer process. Based on that, the CFO's office will give them a temporary ATT to ship it to you. This ATT expires once the pistol gets into your residence.

After that, a representitive from your club should be in contact with the CFO office, stating that you are a member in good standing, and have completed any range safety course. The CFO's office should then issue your LTATT allowing you to take the pistol to your range and have some fun.

Or at least thats how it worked in my case last week in Ontario.

I will/should have my handgun on Monday, we do not require our club to send it for LTATT,.. I have come across information on this site that is confusing and outdated and wish a clarification with new standards for ALBERTA.

I have read about leaving certain information blank on my 679 form, but I have also seen that people in Alberta have had LTATT sent to them without doing anything,.. This is where I am confused,..

What exactly do I need to do, and if I do need to fill out the 679 form, what parts should I fill out to make the process and my life easier.

Call the CFC, and they will transfer you to the Alberta CFO. They will ask for your range card (membership card), then you fax it to them, and they will issue you an ATT. I had mine renewed in October from 5 years and now (becasue they screwed up internally), my ATT lasts for 11 months longer than my PAL.

I will try to get a hold of them on Monday,.. the only document I am missing is my LTATT, they have or I have everything else required.

Just so everyone else knows for ALBERTA,.. CFC 1-800-731-4000 EXTENSION #9026 for the ALBERTA CFO

they didn't even ask for my range card, just the info and then they faxed me the LTATT about 3 minutes after I asked for it.

They wouldn't renew my PAL without a range card. It sat "pending" for 3+ months. After I faxed it in, I had the PAL renewed and the ATT in about 5 minutes.

Here is how it worked for me 2 weeks ago for the M213 from canadaammo: Alberta CFO called and asked for a fax of my club/range card. After I faxed it, next day I received the email that the pistol was sent. I called CFO and asked for LTATT. I was told to wait until the package is delivered and then apply. I did and I applied over the phone for the LTATT. 10 min later it was ready and faxed to me and after two days I received it in the mail.

After I faxed the club card for the transfer they were happy and didn't ask anything else when I called for the LTATT. I had prepared, for just in case, a list of ranges I may ever want to go to but they didn't ask. The LTATT says: "transport to and from all approved ranges, licenced gunsmiths and border crossings in Alberta". Valid for 4 years.
The faxed autorization showed up right away, after 10 min. You have to ask for the fax though.
