Lube needed for swaging 22 cal bullets?

Not unless you are feeling like digging a stuck bullet out of your point forming die . I use corbin swage lube , the next best ( identical ) thing is 50/50 anhydrous lanolin / castor oil mix . Ask me how I know about sticking a bullet in the point form die !!!
 
I'm in the process of swaging .224 bullets with RF jackets. I've been using Corbin's "Draw Die Lube" that I bought when I bought the dies, some 35 or more years ago. I use it to draw the rims off of the .22 brass as well as all swaging operations: Core swaging, core seating and bullet forming. I tried Lloyd's loobit to draw the cases and the punch ripped thru the brass every 3 or 4 cases, so I stopped that foolishness! I'm afraid to try it for swaging. I also use STP, with great success. I don't know if it's still available??? That's what I used for today's session. I also have anhydrous lanolin. BT-Sniper on Castboolits uses a mix of lanolin and castor oil, and that's what he sells.

Make you own.

Spray case sizing.
4 Tbls of liquid lanolin to 16 ozs of 91% rubbing alcohol. Need to shake it up before use. I have us this for swaging when I only want a very light coating.

Swage lube.
4-1. 1lb solid Anhydrous lanolin and 5oz caster oil. Just like Corbins nice and soft at room temperature.
 
The problem with experimenting with swaging lubes is that you run the risk of sticking a bullet in the die. That will usually require sending the die back to the maker for repair. Ask me how I know that???????????
It's best to stick with tried & true lubes such as a anhydrous lanolin/ castor oil mix. Having said that, I've used STP for .22, 357 and 429 swaged bullets for many years and never stuck one. I still have 3 cans of Corbin Draw die lube. I also have 1 lb of anhydrous lanolin and a bottle of castor oil with which to make 2 lifetimes supply of swage lube................and I'm using STP. Go figure!
