lube pads

Get yourself a shallow plastic tray of some kind. Find some thin closed cell (firm) foam, usually at an upholstery shop, and there you have it! You get it all for free, if your lucky!! Cheers!:D

Lube pads

Forget the lube pad. Buy a tin of Imperial Sizing Die Wax. No mess, or excess lubricant on cases. Use a case neck brush with a light film of RCBS Case Slick, apply wax with your fingers. Try it, you'll like it.

what do you guys use for lube pads ??????? I am to cheap to spend $20 on an RCBS one
I've been using the same RCBS pad for over 15yrs and it's nowwhere near needing replacement. Works fine!

The way I look at it is ..... $20 spread over 15+ years represents a VERY low annual investment
. :p

Lube pad

If you live near a Toys 'R Us or a baby specialty store go in and pick up a package of re-fill pads for a "Prince Lionheart Baby Wipe Warmer"!

http://www.princelionheart.com/site_can/n_bc_0239_can.html

The pads come in a package of two for about $12. The pads are not wet or coated with anything when you buy them and all you need to do is add a little of your favourite case lube.

These are the exact same foam that Redding uses in its lube pad. I know because I use both.

The Redding lube pad is $12.50 USD, but does come in a neat plastic case.

I will also give a big +1 to the Redding-Imperial Case sizing wax. It is great stuff, easy to use and lasts forever (almost).

It is available at Wholesale Sports for $5.99.

Remember, case lube, like CLP, should never be used as a ###ual aid. ;)

I started with the pad since it came with my Lyman kit. Then I switched to a spray lube which was pretty good. Now I use a method I learned at an ORA reloading seminar a few years ago.

Take an empty clean plastic ice cream container.
Put a reasonable number of cases in - say 50 +/- in .223
Take a dab of the Lee Case lube paste about 1/2 in long
Put the dab of case lube on the inside rim of the plastic container.
Put the top on and shake vigourously for a minute or so.

This applys a perfect ammount of lube evenly to each case including just the right amount inside the mouth.

From this point I resize and if necessary trim (after resizing). Once the lube is totally dry I toss all the cases back in the tumbler for an hour and they're ready to go.

The only trouble I've had with this method is with a cartridge like 7 mm Rem Mag. the shoulder is so steep and long that it will dent if there's lube on it. With this type I follow the same procedure but just wait till the lube is totally dry before resizing.

I may not have described this perfectly, but it is by far the best method I've found so far.

I threw mine out years ago. I use Hornady one-shot. Spray on, leave for about 5 minutes ...Never had a problem..

Talked to a guy at the range a couple of weeks ago, said that stuff is the cat's ass. I probaly beat's the RCBS slime that I have on my hands at the moment.

My Dad got his RCBS case lube pad about the same time my Mom would take her shirt off to feed me lunch, which is about 45 years ago. Talk about your low annual cost!

I use the Lee case lube.
I have a 2 oz spray bottle that I put about 1/4 of a tube of Lee lube into. Fill the rest of the way with rubbing alcohol, shake well.
I but my brass into a lasagna pan, give it a couple of squirts, shake it around and a couple more squirts. Go for a smoke while the alcohol evaporates, come back and go to work.
I haven't had a stuck case yet, and I've probably resized 3000 cases (mostly military crimped .223)

Tumble for an hour when done to remove lube.
If you don't get carried away with how much you spray on the cases, a tube of the lube will last a long, long time.
