Lubing lead handgun bullets

Going to try some 200gr lead rounds for my .45acp and want to know if you guys lube the bullets before you load and what works best.

Lubing beforehand works best yes. The .45 ACP was not intended as an outside-lubricated round, and will not work well as such.

Are you casting them yourself, buying them cast, but not lubed, or ready to go with some mystery "blue crayon" lube in the grooves.

I myself use Lyman Orange Magic for my smokeless stuff, and SPG for black powder rounds. They are applied via RCBS Lube-A-Matics. When I'm out of Orange Magic, I may try some of that Dragon Bullet stuff.

Are they cast bullets with no lube on them?

Lee's liquid alox is fine for lead pistol bullets.

Pictures of bullets would be good.

These are bought cast bullets, I will have to look to see if they are lubed as I havent opened the bag.

with 45acp you can dam near lube with anything the bullets go so slow they don't get a chance to lead the barrell (at least in my experience)

LL alox. Easy to use. Just a light coat works well. Been there done that with the pan lube technique. Plastic container with good lid, fill with boolits pour a little alox (heated)over boolits , tumble in your hands for a couple minutes then empty container of your coated boolits on to a flat surface covered with wax paper, let dry. Eazy, peazy lemon sqeezy.
