Anyone have any experience with either one of these products? They're expensive but could be worth the investment if they really do extend the life of a barrel. Opinions ?

I have a Lucas

which I have ordered and received for my Benchrest rig when it gets put together. They are very good bore guides.

The drawback with them is they are made action and calber specific and you tell them what cal rod you are using. If you have multiple guns you would basically need one for a Win or Rem action along with the caliber.

Lucas all the way. I have one for my HS and one for the Custom rifle I'm having built on a MOD 70 long action.

They are machined to fit tight and seal with o-rings. Very professional job on the manufacturing.

Enjoy

Lucas are perfect... Nollans... bit of overkill I think... the short range BR guys really love them though...

if you get the Lucas think about getting a couple extra inserts that stay on the rods... I find I'm constantly unscrewing the wire brush to swap it for a nylon one... with the extra inserts you don't have to worry about it...

What I mean is I have three Dewie rods... I had two but I was sick and tired of taking off the bronze brush to swap it for a nylon one...

I have a rod setup with a jag for patches,
another for a bronze brush
and another for a nylon brush... trouble is I only got two inserts a third would have been idea and if you're going for 3 you might as well get 4 because one will go missing at some point...

This isn't over kill... not if you're shooting a lot and competitive... now the guys who get a gazzilon rounds down their tubes... well they can spend the money on oven mitts to hold onto their barrels... :)
