LUCID HD7 Red Dot Sight Review

Good review Stermgewhere. I enjoy your videos. You didn't say much about the magnifier. Is it as fish-bowl like as the SPARC's 2x magnifier? You mentioned that part when you reviewed the SPARC and I would have to agree with you on it as my magnifier for my SPARC basically sits unused.

I didn't mention to much info on it because honestly, I wouldn't ever use it. If it came with the sight, that would be cool but I wouldn't recommend anyone pay the $30 or so for it. I would opt for a 3x with an ADM mount.

It doesn't fish bowl like the SPARCs and seems to be a bit nicer quality (the 2x magnifier).

I don't mention where things are made typically because it's irrelevant to me. I measure a product based upon its features, quality of construction and performance. If it's made in the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, China, West Texas, or next door... it's not something I place too much importance on.

I realize others are concerned with country of origin for various reasons, so I should make it a habit to say (assuming I know) where something is made.

The HD7 is made in China, like most things these days that are reasonably priced. Some people automatically assume that because something is made in China that it's of poor quality. That couldn't be any further from the truth. China is capable of producing high quality products. Just look at Apple products, some of the most advanced computes and gadgets on the market, and they're made 100% in China. China, like anywhere else in the world, can make good stuff or cheap stuff depending on how much money you want to spend.

Here's one more test of the HD7. It's to respond to several comments/questions I received about the ability of the sight to handle being completely submerged in water vs. having water poured over it.

Great review. According to the Lucid website these tested these with a .458 SOCOM. Do you know if they have been tested on non semi-auto rifles? I would like to mount one on my Marlin 336C (.30-30).

Stay away from these, they are garbage and not worth $300. The LED housing obstructs 1/4 of the sight picture which I found to be completely distracting and made it unuseable.
Made in China means $50 optics....thats the most any optics from there are worth based on the #### quality. Don't get sucked in by "Lifetime Warranty" with new unproven companies selling junk optics made in China. When they go tits up in 2 years your warranty ain''t worth ####...
