Was out last weekend with the hounds for last go of the year. Seen this coyote seeking down the fence line 200 yards away. Dogs were on a different coyote not far away.

I gave him a WOOF and he stops broadside and I hit him low right behind the shoulder. He jumped about 4ft in the air then took off running straight away.I held dead on his head and squeezed off. By the time I lowered the gun he was gone out of sight. I walked up to find him and this is what I found.

.22-250 from about 220 yards.

Great work!! that 'yote died quickly, lol.

I did almost exactly the same thing on a doe muley that my buddy had hit in the front leg.
She was determined to leave the area, but the 140 Partition from my 7mm STW caught up with the back of her head.
It wasn't pretty either, but no long, drawn-out suffering for her.

Keep up the good work! Dave.

Thanks guys

I got that coyotes mate about 3 hrs later. The coyote just kept circling in the same cedar bush on his own track. I could tell just by the way the hounds were tonguein' they were right on its ass or had it bayed up.

I slowly walked in the thick cedars from the downwind side and heard the hounds getting closer. Dropped to my knees for a better view, shouldered the gun and seen a flash comin my way, out pops the coyote 10 yards away with two hounds about 5 feet behind that. Thankfully the coyote seen me and jumped sideways away from me and the hounds giving me a perfect 15 yard shot.
