I have been contemplating selling a Luger 1939 code 42 pistol that I inherited from my father 20 years ago. It was given to him by a cousin returning from WW2. He "relieved" the previous owner of it after capturing him!

All numbers on all parts match as far as I can tell. (all stamped "17" to correspond with the 3417 serial # I assume) One magazine stamped 3417 on bottom, one stamped with a different #. (spare mag?)

I have looked on the internet and found a few in the USA for sale for between 2K and 3K. Are prices comparible in Canada?

What would be a fair price to ask for this gun?

Thanks in advance for any advice or info!
James

Beautiful P08. As it is a family bringback, I would put the value at "priceless" and keep her in the family, JMHO:)
Thanks for showing,
Joe

Do you know that you can pass this gun to generations - 12(7) option... while you will get maximum $1000 for it that you would probably waste into nothing...

Thanks for the replies fellows!
This gun really doesn't have much sentimental value to me. And as far as passing it down, I have 3 girls who have zero interest in guns. I want to put the money I recieve for this gun into a new hunting rifle or shotgun.
So anyone who can tell what value to put on this, or web sites that I may want to check out (No offence CGN) I would really appreciate it.

Don't even think you can compare US price with ours, it 2 differrent fields. These are pro-hibs ,one day one person will own everyone in Canada!!! You can't expect to get real world value on something that the goverment does not want us to have. If you cannot hold onto it as a heirloom then atleast sell it to a collector who will appreciate it! My freind just sold one in similar shape in the 1 K range ,they are going in the range of 2 to 2-1/2 k in the states. Please do not make this into a toy and sell it for more, how bout donating it to your local military museaum and get a healthy tax receipt for the coming year and still perserving your families sacrafice in time of war, best regards in your desition, Dale in T-Bay:wave:
