My neighbour has a Luger that he wants to sell. Neither he nor I know what its worth. Could anyone here give me at least a general idea of value? I have pics that I could send via email. (hopefully, having a problem downloading from camera to PC)

* It is a DWM 1917 with four digit serial number and all part numbers match including one mag.
* The bore is pretty much mint, I can't see any rust or pits.
* Original blueing is at least 95%.
* Includes two mags
* Includes 1916 holster in very good shape (for 100 year old leather), a bit of surface cracking on buckle tab. Still has the little tool under the flap.

Thanks for your help!

The 12.6 Prohib market is shrinking daily, but a Luger is desirable as it is iconic, and it qualifies to be passed on as a 12.7.

I bought a MINT matching (but not mag) s/42 WWII Luger for $1200 last year. This was a little more desirable to me as it has the Nazi proofs and that fits into my collection. That said, the one you describe has a matching mag and the correct and likely original holster. I'm guessing your neighbor could get $16-1800 for the entire rig. That amount would go up if he could prove the history of the pistol and how it came to Canada (e.g.: historical documentation of the capture story).

PLEASE ask him to not get it rebarrelled to restricted. That COMPLETELY ruins the historic integrity!!!!!!

Thanks for your response.

He isn't going to rebarrel it, he just wants wants to sell it before he has to renew his firearms license. He wants to drop from an RPAL to a PAL. (Don't ask me why. I told him renewing the RPAL was no harder that getting a PAL.)

I did manage to download the pictures to my computer so I can send them to anyone interested.

You forgot to mention bbl length. A Naval or Artillery model will break 2000 easily IMO

4" bbl is going to really lower the price. It's just going to improve a purchasers position, shame...but that's the way it is. Likely a fine piece, just pretty much has to be re-bbl'd to garner interest or value. Re-bbl'd...1800-2000 with it's kit IMO
A purist who can own prohibited handguns may say otherwise, then offer you a 800-1000 $. Which is hypocritical IMO
