Hope someone here might have advanced knowledge on how to disassemble the P08 Luger pistol. I am trying to separate the breech block (#010) from the toggle linkage (#006) and no matter what I try, I cannot drift out the pin (#007) that holds the two together. I do not want to proceed further without some sort of guidance, lest I mess up a nice rig, so... any suggestions?? I know that this step is not necessary for any regular cleaning/maintenance of the pistol, but the breech block is worn out, (wont hold the firing pin assembly [#013-015] in any more) and I need to replace it. So any suggestions would be appreciated (as well as telling me to seek a gun smith and spend some flippin money and stop being a cheap b@$tard)! Cheers! ;)in gunsmithing section

BTW: will also post in gunsmithing section as well.

Did you try pushing the pin while changing the angle relationship of the toggle/connecting link? I'm not sure but I think it can only slide out at a certain precise position.
Or there's a small setscrew on the toggle's body.
Lugers have beautiful and very intricate mechanisms. It's been a long time since I took mine apart.

There is a small pin holding part 007, I assume you removed that?

But you dont need to remove this part to get the breech off the toggle arm. Pin 12 is loose (held in place by the slide) and easily removes the breech from part 4.

With the slide off the frame, part 20 should come out easily, allowing the toggle and breech to be removed. then you can access pin 12.

Gunparts is listing a reproduction breech block for $79.95US.
"...cannot drift out the pin..." Likely peened in.

Gott Arbor Press?

For simplicity, I'm sure you tried drifting it out from both sides in case it's a taper pin or only comes out one way.

Note: these are not taper pins, but they do only come out one way, the "wrong side" has a little edge like a nail.

Just a bit more than finger tight

Thats as far as I got, the pin on the breech was tight and I could not figure out which direction it should go. At this point you can easily remove the pin on the hinge or have a go at the pin on the breech.

Live.... LIVE!!!!! It's alive!!!!

Sorry to resurrect this dead thread gentlemen, but I just acquired a new breech block to replace my worn out piece (after purchasing a few junk, beat up breech blocks ).....

I still am having quite a difficult time in removing the pin which holds the connecting link (#004) to the breech block (#010).

In my original post I gave the incorrect description of what I was trying to disassemble, so hopefully I could probably get the proper help now... I have tried drifting it out from the right, and from the left, to no avail.... what is up??

Thanks gents!

Cheers!

From looking at this diagram and comparing pins 20, 28 and 32, 32 obviously does not have the nail head type stopper to prevent it from going both ways. However it could just be my imagination or the drawing, 32 kinda looks tapered. narrower on the left side? In any case, there are apparently no small pins holding it in place like 29 does for 28.

Figured it out!

I did end up having to use a hydraulic press to force the pin out, and back in!

That was one tough cookie! But now I have a 1921 Weimar P08 up and shooting again!!! :):) YAY!

Thanks to Tradex for the perfect condition breech block and fast shipping!
