I have a Luger made in 1936 stamped with S/42, it is all matching Except for the barrel. (as in the barrel was replaced war time ) The Luger also has a stock lug on it, was this Luger a artillery model? and after they just changed the barrel to a shorter ne?

Not an artillery model . Early lugers had the lug .
My 1916 4" Erfurt has the lug

1936 S/42 is ok. All Lugers except for a few years early on, have the stock lug. It may have had a longer barrel or the barrel may have been damaged at some point.
