Luger serial#899X may be coming up for sale by a friend. I have no knowledge of these pistols. The gun has 95-98% blue, walnut handles, walnut pull knob on clip. The trigger seems to have a gold or titanium color the same as on the other stainless parts. On top of the gun just back of the barrel has a symbol containing bird wings holding a star, the star is made with dots or *. On top of the bolt 3 initials in fancy writing engraved WMC. What would this be worth?
Thanks

Looks like a 1900 American eagle. Is the caliber 7.65 m/m. Nice gun i would like to have it. Dished toggels, 4 3/4 inch barrel and grip safety. What's not to like about it.

checking with collector "friends" about US $ 1500-$ 2000,- in that
condition. It is in original shape (was never reblued )
Many had the last 2 digits of serial numbers imprinted on bottom of
wooden magazine knob as far as I have seen.

Amercian Eagle Luger...

Personally, of all the Lugers, I like the "American Eagle" one the best. Non-restricted barrel, grip safety and a real cool ctg.... the .30 Luger...

Many years ago I made my own barrel in .30 Luger
from Douglas blanks with a 1:10 twist and in 6 " barrel length,
installed it on a BYF 42 (Mauser) whose barrel was corroded.
It out-shot accuracy-wise any 9mm Para ammo that I put through
any other mint barreled Lugers. I had many in my life.
I still have the reloading dies and would love to do that again, just
for the fun of it. I need a "cheap and beat-up Luger for that.

Congratulations ! Your Luger is a joy to look at too!

Congrats on that beautifull pistol !!

First model of the Luger pistol as produced by DWM. Very high standard of manufacturing with high grade fit & finish. Superb rust blue...

1900 AE model, sn in the correct range. Strawed parts ( gold like finish ) should include: extractor, locking bolt, mag catch, safety lever & trigger. Fire blued parts includes: sear bar spring, axle pin & front sight. Magazine is absolutely correct with an un-proofed / un-numbered wood base. Pistol should not have any export marks like ``Germany`` or ``Made in Germany``.

Look at the checkering on those grips...Simply beautifull !! One of the reasons why these early DWM pistols are much sought after....

Well put, Marc.
The Mags I saw must have been replacements from before WW2 or after.
I gladly stand corrected.

It depends where you measure the barrel. I am not sure. The barrel measures 3 15/16" from end of barrel to the frame and 4 3/4" from the end of the barrel to the end of the chamber.

What you have there is a Model 1900 American Eagle, 7.65mm Luger with a bbl of 4 3/4 inches so it should be registered as a restricted not prohib.

Why not run an auction on this one ?? I'm sure there would be lots of interest, myself included !! By the way, if all original t's NOT a $450.00 pistol....

beautyful

A pistol like that is a must own and wish i did!!! If it does auction off as restricted i sure would like to be high bidder!

Proper measurement is with the breech closed, insert a dowel until it is resting on the breech face/bolt. The measurement to the end to the rifled section (muzzle) is the official barrel length.

Get him to have it re-verified as restricted only. My offer of $500 still stands. ;)

Ok Fellas this pistol is for Sale! It is registered Prohib. and he has been offered $450.00. What do you think?

Geez, $450, eh? Where is it located? There's a couple of a$$hat gunshow "dealer" types here on the north end of Van Isle who would make that kind of 'low ball' offer knowing full well it's real worth. Would be nice for the owner to get it's real value, though. And not some guy trying to make a quick buck off it.

And +1 on getting it properly verified and reregistered as 'restricted' only as it should be.

The proper way to check the length is to measure from bolt
face to end of chamber.
I am thinking the reason for prohibe could be because of the
caliber??? 7.62 >7.65 What does the certifi. show -do you know?
I am in at $700.oo and counting:D
