Lyman 1000 scale

recently picked up a bunch of reloading equipment for a really good price , most of it practically unused and in excellent shape, tonight dad and i tried zeroing the Lyman 1000 scale and it doesn't seem to want to zero is there something we are doing wrong or is the scale fubared

the scale i have is a balance beam type scale and we have adjusted the screw on the bottom like the book says and it still wont level out

Do you have the brass powder tray on the scale? Check to see if the balance edges are plugged up with spooge.

 

[Ganderite]

It is intended to balance with a metal powder cup on the balance. This weighs around 100 grains. Without that, it won't balance.
