Lyman 223 case checker and neck-sizing only issues

Use your Hornady one shot and run your loaded rounds through the body size die just like you would a normal resizing die.
I use Redding S Type dies with a bushing loading for 5-6 rifles chambered with match chambers in .308. All ammo is interchangeable between all my rifles. In fact if some of my buddy's run short of ammo, my ammo will fit their match chambers as well.

Always full length resize brass fired in another rifle. That guarantees it fits your rifle. Neck sizing only works on cases previously fire in your rifle. I resize new and once fired brass which I find eliminates any problems.
This. You have 4 different 223 rifles, and want the ammo to work in all off them, then it needs to be made to the smallest rifle. If you're using random range pick ups, you don't know how that chamber compares to yours.

If you want to use unknown brass, and you want the loads to work in all your rifles, and you only plan on a few reloads before you lose the brass (ie not looking for max brass life) then full length resizing is going to be the way to go, and I'd argue every time.

That’s my outlook as well, at least the first time you load the range brass. FL size it and fire it in your gun, then keep it separate and neck size till you need to bump the shoulder a couple thou.

I might be missing something, but what is the difference between using the Redding body die and taking my Lee FLR die and taking out the expander ball? In theory, aren't they the same? Wondering now if I just wasted a bunch of $$$ on the Redding die.

Oh well.

The Redding body die just does the body and bumps the shoulder and does not touch the neck. I have a few friends that ran into the same problem that you have. I loaned them my body die and it saved them from pulling several hundred bullets. They all ordered one for themselves in each caliber that they load for.

Thanks! Will do so once I get the die in the mail.... not looking forward to ~500 rounds, but WAY better than pulling them
