Lyman 6th Edition Shotshell Reloading Handbook

My Lyman 6th edition arrived yesterday. I am disappointed with the amount of steel shot loads included.
A limited number of wads were used, and the velocities for a lot of these loads are in the 1200 to 1300 fps range.
Most factory steel loads are in the 1500 fps range.

I got into shotshell reloading to reload steel shotshells and it's been frustrating finding data. Do they list powders besides Alliant steel for 12 gauge 2 ¾ & 3" ? Preferable with cheddite hulls and primers...

I’ve noticed this book has a lot of weird combinations for making loads
As an example it will have a Remington hull and to use a Cheddite primer you have to use some weird wad like a mec or something not common
Then they have data using a claybuster wad with the same Remhull but you have to use a primer that isn’t available lol
I like the new book but I”m finding the previous one to be more useful honestly

Thats good to hear 572 is listed. I like to roll my own 1 1/4 field loads and buckshot. 12G and 20G - I also load a lot of roundball in 20 and 12 plus Lee 7/8oz slugs in 12g. I used to use a lot of Bluedot and Herco but who can find that now! Now its HS6, 572 and Longshot

Little general FYI......
When you look at the different powder bushings from the manufacturers, there are a couple of crossover / identical / powders as far as what the bushing will throw. "ie"... Longshot and 572 are listed in the same column on the Ponsness & Warren site...shows same powder. High Gun and Tite Group are the other two showing identical load data and powder throws. It's been touted as the same powder, just rebranded to be a "new shotgun" powder.

Sporteque in Drummondville QC is also carrying the new Lyman #6. We order a fair bit from them from time to time. BPI wads, CB wads...the odd time powder. Great people to deal with. Usually a couple of shipping options available for you to at checkout.
There are some great specialty manuals out there made by BPI...I have a few..lol. Got the the 16 ga, the Advantages, the Cheddite, the High Performance Sporting Clay Loads...lots of great info as well as some filler loads with defunct powders. Still love lookin thru them for new possibilities.
