I have a new to me Lyman case trimmer and the .30 center bushing keeps getting stuck in the case every time i trim a shell.
Just wonderin if the cutter could be dull even if it does seam to cut well but does leave a decent burr inside and outside the case.
Or am i missing something? This is my first time doing rifle brass.

I have been using a Lyman case trimmer since the early '80's. It was part of a Lyman reloading kit I bought. I have also encountered the same problem on occasion. Like Rusyl said.
Making sure the pilot screw is tight helps for sure as well as continuing to turn the crank as you pull the pilot out of the case. I find that if a case is being trimmed a lot and a burr develops both on the inside and outside of the case, that is when it gets sticky.
If the trim is just a couple thou then I never have issues.
And BTW, it happens with all calibers I re-load, not just .30

The rear of the pilot is slightly rounded and the case mouth brass bur wraps around the rear of the pilot and hangs up.

Use a VLD deburing tool on the inside of the case mouth "before" trimming, this helps stop the brass flow around the rear of the pilot.

Also do not press as hard on the cutter and case mouth. New cases with more to cut off add to the problem, so deburr more often.

I bought my Lyman trimmer in the mid 1970s, is painted gray and has the upgrade carbide cutter. What is funny is I have been trimming some 7.62 Lake City cases and using a battery drill and a simple Lee case trimmer and its faster. Even faster is my .223 WFT trimmer so the Lyman doesn't get used as much as it once did.

There's a little bit of resistance when attempting to pull the pilot out of the case mouth. What I do notice is that sometimes the cutter comes loose. I'll occasionally tighten the cutter by holding the cutter while turning the crank.
