Overthrow = too much powder dispensed, Underthrow = too little powder dispensed.

The straw trick is a tweak to improve the accuracy of the dispenser by inserting a plastic straw with some cut-outs into the dispensing tube. It seems to improve accuracy with some powders and by changing the size of the cut-outs you can customize the dispenser to different types of powder.
 
I use a Lee powder thrower (they are quite accurate and I like it better then the RCBS thrower that I had) and a A&D FX120i electronic scale ( I used to have a Gempro)
I had a Chargemaster but never used it so I sold it. Now I wish I kept the Chargemaster since I decided that competitive target shooting isnt for me - I just dont have the time. I prefer to practice my skills with my hunting rifles so that Im better prepared for hunting season.
I suspect the Chargemaster would save me a lot of time but I will wait until the CAN/US exchange rate gets better again
 
over throws are where the powder dispenser throws too much. Underthrows are the opposite.

Both can have negative effects on accuracy and safety.

the straw trick is super easy. you go to McDonalds and grab a drink straw. take it home and carefully cut about an inch off. slide it up into the dispenser snout. This keeps powder from hanging up on the internal threads at the very tip. keeps things more repeatable.
 
Very happy with the ChargeMaster, got it back in 2012 for $280US when US$ was par. Plus there was $50 rebate.

Seems pretty expensive today but if you are going to splurge go for a good scale.

Did the straw and programming to speed up the drop.
