Ya I've heard about not being able to get 54cal components either and my question is this....
Why not just double patch a cleaning jag and cast your own ammo? I know 54 dies are available.

I have no problem getting .54 supplys. I cast my own balls and arder anything else from Track Of The Wolf.

I built a flintlock version in the '80s, and I'm no handyman by any means. It was a fine rifle, very accurate within a 100 yds. It shot better slightly fouled, so for hunting fire a round or two at base camp before heading out for the day. Of course, it has to be cleaned before it's put away that night.
