So I was rummaging through some old cabinets looking for some spare scope rings, when I came across a die for a Lyman Ideal 310 reloader. I knew someone had given me a few spare parts decades ago, but I didn't pay any attention to them. As I kept digging, I ended up pulling out (what I think is) a complete .308 win kit.

It needs some cleaning up, but everything is in working order.
I've wanted to start reloading for some time, but the start up cost has been too prohibitive to justify, given how little I get out to shoot these days. And then I find this thing in the basement and maybe it'll suit my casual reloading needs. Along with the kit, there's 100 or so primers and a box of hornady 168gr soft points. As near as I can tell, all I'm missing is brass and powder. Oh, and knowledge.
So what's a good reloading book for the part-time-casual reloader who's reloading with 150 year old technology?
Any tips and tricks for using the 310?
I've got a little bit of brass left over from factory Winchester balistics silver tips. The silver cased stuff. Is that reloadable? Or does the plating interfere with something?
When it comes to buying brass and bullets, are there any pitfalls to avoid?
Are there certain powders whose composition and properties would lend well to small batch HAND hand loading?
Any other questions I should be asking?
As usual, thanks for the help folks.
