Mic the diameter of the steps.
.003" should be sufficient press fit for 9x19 projectiles.

Take a Cratex wheel & polish the "steps" off the expander.

The "STEPS" are expanding the case mouth too large & a taper or roll crimp seater die can NOT remove the step.

I've cast,loaded,shot 10's of thousands of projectiles in pistol & rifle cartridges & never,not once did I need or want a step in my expander plug or to hold projectiles for seating.

You have some weird fixation with these stepped expanders. Many reloaders, including myself, use this type of expander successfully and with good reason. The "STEPS" are not expanding the case mouth too large and no one expects the "STEPS" to be removed by the seat/crimp die(s), lol.

I'm curious to know what connection there is with expanding the case mouth and the expander sticking in the case? This thread isn't about over expanding its about the sticking issue. Maybe I'm missing something?
