Hi!
I'm almost done reading most of the non-recipe part of the Lyman shotgun reloading book. Very interesting read! I started looking at the recipes and I wanted to see if there would be a combination of powder and wads that could be used for target and hunting loads (both 7/8 and 1oz) in 20ga. Basically, cross-referencing various data...it's a pain to do.

Is there a reloading app that exists that has all these published recipes in it where it would be easier to do searches?

Cheers!

David

Nope, there's no such app.
Hodgdon and Alliant have on-line shotshell recipes.
The Lyman Handbooks are good, but the 5th was published a lot of years ago, so some modern powders are not covered.
There are no one ounce 20 gauge wads currently on the market. The last one was the Remington SP20. We can hope that it becomes available again, now that Vista owns Remington ammunition. That won't happen until the shotshell shortage is overcome.

The Hodgdon reloading guide allows you to filter for specific loads and powders. Wads are generally charge specific, as determined by the volume of the shot column in the wad. Otherwise you run into "stack" problems, which you are going to encounter with varying degrees anyway.

huntingfish: I will add to cosmic's suggestion. The Hodgdon Reloading site is a good reference source for load comparisons. Likely close to what you need. Worth a look.

I should clarify re: 20 gauge wads - SP20 is for tapered wall hulls - AA compression formed and Remington one piece construction.
There are Guilandi 20 gauge wads, short, medium and long, suitable for straight walled hulls - Federal, Cheddite, Fiocchi.

lymans 5th, uses old AA hull, WSF, AA20 wad and 1oz. It is tight but works.
In fact all kinds of mixtures out there if one looks. 1oz in a 20ga was never an issue
In fact winchester sells it's aa wads as this
Winchester Shotshell Wads 20 Gauge WAA20 7/8 to 1-1/4 oz Bag of 250
Also not hard to get a bag of these from some old guys stash on gun post all the time
WAA20F1 wads

There is also, of course, Federal's 20S1 wad.

in fact 2 bags on there as we speak
IMO wads are cheap so buy all types like I did :) and keep those old winchesters for 1 oz only

The old extinct Win 571 aka HS7 makes snappy 1 oz loads. They still make the latter. Old Win AA hulls

BPI sell 20ga 1oz wads. Sold in Canada by Bilozir out of Hillspring AB.

@RePete-

Sporteque in Quebec sells BPI wads for 20 gauge straight walled hulls too.
