Lyman slug loads

I use the lowest presure load that comes with the mold, I think it is imr 7.... something powder in a win red wad. My unrifled 870 sp with rifle sights puts 5 in 6" at 100 yards. My Norinco taticals put them in 8" at the same distance. I use ww cases 2 3/4 ".

I saw a chap at the range who was getting equal or better results with unique powder.

Is the powder IMR 700x ????

Sorry, I remembered wrong, here is the load from my shooting journal;

525 grn lyman sabot slug, cast of ww, quenched, waa cases,win red wad,win 209 primer,35 grns 4756.

This load is both in the latest Lyman shotshell book and comes with the data supplied withe the mold.

This load was veryaccurate in a rifled choke barrel and pretty decent in a cylinder bore:

Hull: Winchester Compression formed AA 12 Gauge
Primer: Winchester 209
Powder: 30 Grains of Winchester Super Field
Wad: Winchester WAA12F114 (yellow)

As always consult published loads (I believe the above is a Lyman load, but verify before using). The load above was safe in the guns it was fired in but YMMV. Also note the above load is pretty powerful - definitely not a powder puff "tactical" slug load!
