I am mounting a Lyman #2 Tang sight on a Winchester '94 and cannot find any info regarding the size and thread pitch of the forward mounting screw. I have the screw but will have to drill and tap the hole. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I believe the tang sight comes with two screws. One is #10-36 for older 94s that have the hole done at the factory. The second one is #10-32 for tangs that have to be drilled and tapped.

Take the screw to any bolt supply store in town, they can identify the thread size and pitch for you...they may even have the tap avail. if it is the original "gun thread" (be prepared for sticker shock tho) size.

Brownell's have common gun sizes in kits and singly at reasonable prices. You'll have rare occasions where you'll need a die. Taps get used more.
