Lyman tumbler issues

Ive got a Lyman 2500 Magnum Tumbler and Im having, what I think is, motor issues. The tumbler pulses cyclically (video below). It gets worse the longer it is on. If I let it sit long enough, you can visibly see the media stuff vibrating then start up again - over and over. Anyone else ever have this issue or know a fix? I'd love to ship it to Lyman but shipping is gonna nearly as much as half of a new tumbler.

Any ideas what might cause this?

It looks OK to me. Just like my Hornady unit.
Have you ever looked at it upside down? There is an unbalanced spinning weight which causes it to vibrate. That is how it was designed to work.
 
My Lyman doesn't sound like that. It's a constant WRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR sound, the pitch never changes.

Good excuse to switch to wet tumbling. :)
 
Put the lid on the damn thing. The bowl is vibrating up the center bolt. Bowl needs tension to operate correctly. There should be a wing-nut to hold bowl down on threaded stem.
 
I have the same tumbler and made the same noise then died.It was a new machine but had not been run for about seven years.The motor is in the base and is sealed in there so it can not be replaced easily.I sent a email to Lyman explaining the situation and they sent me a new base unit no charge ,shipping and all ,did not cost me a dime.Just put the bowl on the new base and good to go.

I have had mine apart and it it has brass bushings in the motor around the shaft

maybe the bushing need some oil (3in one) around the packing material that is around the bushing --don't over oil :(

also check that the counter weight screw is tight
