Used Garand stocks are often found with the wood compressed where the trigger housing and rear "legs" of the receiver seat. Loose fit in these areas can be corrected by glueing in wooden shims.

I got mine from Sarco, brand new 7.62 Italian converted back to 30/06, great stock.

Years ago I got a pile of stocks on eBay . I only needed one but got ten for $20. Might be worth checking out . Never know if get lucky

Best to buy from a licensed export firm like Gun Parts or Sarco. Homeland Security confiscated a nice Garand stock that I purchased on ebay a few years ago.
