M-14 Blasphemy?

For starters, the Chinese source most of their iron and steel from outside their own country - much of it is the exact same steel we buy.

Agreed, South Korea and Japan are producing and exporting beaucoup quantities of high quality alloy steels. The United States cranks out a lot of carbon and stainless steels but if a U. S. manufacturer is buying a chrome-moly steel, it's not unusual for it to be shipped from the Pacific Rim.

I did not feel inadequately armed 40 years ago when if called upon I needed to entrust my life to my issued M14. And I would not feel inadequately armed today if issue a M14. But then again my primary defensive handgun is a M1911A1 and I drive a 1974 CJ5. Are there more technologically advance rifle, handguns and vehicles out there? Yes. But I am quite certain I can accomplish the mission with a M14, M1911a1 and a CJ5. Remember it is not the size that count: it is knowing how to use it!

Thanks for posting. Our American friends, especially vets, are always welcome here. :)

Respect!

Interestingly enough, I drive a Jeep (albeit, the latest incarnation of it) and my favorite firearms found in my safe right now are the M1A and the M1911A1.
