M-14, M1a, US GI M-14 Inspection FAQs

Like Spearhunter said, those are mostly issues with older models. If you a paying attention to the threads these days, you will see these rifles are very reliable. They are cheap to buy and with a few bucks to upgrade a few parts such as springs and spring guides, they will perform just fine. I bought one last spring, put about $65 into it and shoot the sh###t out of it with no problems. Try one, you wont regret it.

Done! As soon as Marstar gets some more in I will probably have to jump on getting one. At this rate I'll never have the money for the DDM4V5 I want. I clearly need a higher paying job

HI Lazerus, congratulations for this excellent post.
Is it ok for the M305 bolt, when locked in battery, to move a little bit in and out around a rough 1/16"?
Hope you have the answer.
Marcelo.
Thanks.

Laz is in PINK and wont be able to answer.

But yes the Norinco bolt will have a little play. Send me three empty cases shot with the gas valve off and I can give you a measurement of your headspace.

All my spent casings are mixed. Going to Silverdale Saturday. Then I will have marked casings to send. You can send me your address to mail the casings.
thanks for your answer.
