I read on a different section of the forums here that a LAR-15 pistol 10 round Magazine fit in the M-14, is that true? So I geuss a AR-15 Magazine fits also then? If those take .223 and the M-16 takes .308 , how many rounds of .308 will fit in a 10 round .223 LAR Pistol Magazine? And is that 10 round Magazine Legal for hunting?

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry 2 funny.
:D
It only will take 7.62x39mm rounds.
Not 7.62x51mm rounds.
Look for AIA M10 mags.

I am a newbie to this type of gun, its just what I read, and I did'nt get it either. I found this link to a LAR-15 Pistol Magazine, it says it fits AR-15,M16 half way down.

AR's and M16's are the same ####. AR pistols have the exact same receiver as any other AR. So yea, they will all take the same mag. M14's are a completely different platform!!! You owe me shoes dude!

Ar-15 type rifle, chambered in 5.56x45/.223 Magazines are m-16/ Ar-15/ LAR-15 magazines.

M-14/M1a Chambered in 7.62x51/.308

Two completely different rifles, tow completely different magazine designs.

Now all they need to do is make a .308AR pistol, and 10rnd mags for it. Then figure out how to make a M14 make .308 AR mags, and still be reliable :stirthepot2:

On the subject of the AIA Enfield mags, is anyone importing/making them? I had heard vague rumors of someone making some, but no names were involved.

Hmm... I wonder what would happen if someone made a bolt action .223 that took magazines similar to the AR mags, but with a smaller catch hole so that they would not lock into AR's. Commission RRA or someone to make a few thousand 30rnd mags with a smaller catch hole, and bring them into Canada stamped for use in your new varmint rifle. If someone happens to make an aftermarket magazine latch that will allow someone to lock it into an AR... well that is hardly your fault then is it? :stirthepot2:

The mag cap laws might irk me. Can you tell?

Give the guy a break, it's easy to get calibres mixed up when you're new to firearms. I once talked to a guy who thought 9mm and .38 special were the same thing. :p

Anyway, let's forget the .308 question for now. What he wants to know is if it's legal to use a 10 round AR mag designed for the pistol and use it with an AR15 rifle. I personally don't know the answer and am wondering myself.

Even if it is legal, I would probably advise against it.

Questar has a letter posted on their website from the RCMP that OKs the magazines for sale in Canada:

https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/shopcontent.asp?type=Mag Ruling

With it is a pdf detailing their ruling:

https://shopquestar.com/shopping65/q_images/LAR Pistol Mags Ruling 2008-06-18.pdf

Notice how in it they say: "...the further use of these magazines on any other firearm is not regulated."
This means that they can be used in ANY firearm that takes AR type magazines, not just the LAR-15 pistol.

308 will NOT fit into an AR15 magazine; the overall length of the round is too long to fit.

As well, aR15 magazines will not function in the the M14 receiver. AR magazines have a notch in the side of the magazine to secure into the receiver. The m14 mags have a notch in the front and a another piece of sheet metal riveted to the back.

So no, it won't work.
