another trick is to take out your trigger mechanism and work it OUT OF THE GUN- this does 2 things- checks your stock fit and tells you if your safety is working properly- pull the hammer back, put on the safety, take off the safety, cushion the hammer, and pull the trigger- see if that helps- do for a number of cycles- if it's still stiff, put a little lube in there to see if it still does it- chances are it just needs lube and tlc- if there's something wrong with the stock fit( and you wouldn't be the first one) look for a high spot in the stock or where it doesn't quite fit; then file that a little at a time until it does- trial and repeat- a lot of these are either made tight or swell on the trip over-DO NOT TAKE A FILE OR DREMEL to the trigger mechanism to "improve " the fit- chances are you'll get the angles wrong and she'll go full auto on you - that's how critical those surfaces are- now if you're fully experienced like m14doctor or hungry or mystic, then yes;( and they're the ONLY ones i would trust with my trigger) but for us mere mortals ,it's FORBIDDEN GROUND - and not every smith can work on those either
