I've been looking into purchasing my first M-14, I may end up be going the Norinko route to start out with. As they are the most popular around me. I'm curious to see what peoples experiences are with this rifle as i'm fairly new to shooting but pretty familiar with firearms. Where should I look to purchase New/Used, what kinda mods/sights should I be looking into and most importantly what should I stay away from and try to look for. If theres something a bit more direct you'd like to say, feel free to message me.

I have a m305 and it has operated and shot accurately for years. I wouldn't call it an investment rifle, but if you want a fun shooter/plinker its not a bad way to go. A Springfield m14 is a lot higher in price.

I recently got into the M1A / M14 / M305 platform myself and as Mentioned above definately check out the EE, there are good bundle deals to be had for sale throughout the year, I started with a 2007 Norinco from the EE, and the thing shoots incredable with blue box Federal 150gr factory loaded ammo, couldn't be more happier with a 500 dollar rifle, if your like me on a tight budget, but looking to get into this platform I recommend a Norinco for sure to start with, you can only make it better as the great Tacticsl Teacher himself says, sign up for one of tactical teachers upcoming M14 clinics in the GTA/Oshawa and you'll never look back, great platform to constantly upgrade, and if down the road you decide you want to keep getting further in it look at LRB and big price tag names,
If your looking for scope mounts I recommend M14.ca's CASM gen 2 mount, for solid reliability and ease of installation, loads of stock options availible for any look or practicality your looking for!

Cheers!

Don't buy a new one...they have MIM bolts now and that is a serious issue.
If you want a Nork, gotta look at used older versions.

I'm not to sure what a MIM bolt is, but from the sounds of it i should look into what exactly they are, so i can avoid them. I would actually prefer to find a Used one, I'd like to help someone out vs. buying new.

Do some research!!!! New 305s are pipe bombs IMHO look up the MIM bolts

How many years and how many rounds does it take to disprove you don't know what you're talking about? Nobody I know or heard of has blown up a M305. You sound like you're full of shiiiiit

Or you can get the cheapest norc on the ee ans buy the usgi kit from wolverine.

Maybe m14 medic has used norc in his inventory. They will be more expansive but you know you get a good one.

It would help us if you gave us an idea of what you intended to use it for and what kind of performance you want.

At the ORA we shoot the Sporting Rifle shoot 3 or 4 times a year. 100, 200 and 300 yards. Deliberate, Snap and Mover.

I have used my Norc with irons and it did well. A buddy has a scope on his and it is impressive. Nothing done to them except a tactical Teacher seminar.

Maybe not "blown up". But plenty of accounts of the right lugs being sheared off bolts that were metal injection molded Instead of forged as they're supposed to be. I know, who needs a right lug? Am I right??

Literally 6 threads below this one there is discussion regarding an exploded M-14 with confirmation of the thread's existence by a CGN mod. M14Medic even posted a picture of all the blown up bolts he's collected from customers. This is all from TODAY.

I, for one, am thankful for our new Stag-10 master. Good riddance.
