I made one too! I made it from a dollar store plastic chopping board as per Hungry's recommendation. It works like a charm and does not scratch the metal.

I bought one for 35 bucks. I don't think you could make them profitably in canada when they are so easy to buy from the US (its just a tool, no import problems). Focus your energies on something we can't get easily.

Stragely enough, I've competed for a decade using the M14 and I never found the need for one. I just made do.... until Skullboy made me one. Now I'm using it for teaching purposes since I don't even have an M14 at all. :(

Nope, I don't have any M14's at all. I like building , tweaking, competing for a match or 2 , then selling them. You have to understand how I just love working on them, well the REAL USGI M14's that we bought for $ 400 back in 1986 when Israel was dumping them into Canada. We could buy USGI TRW Brand new in the wrap for $ 35 at local Toronto gun shows or AJAX or Hamilton or Scarborough or Ancaster.

With Service Rifle matches, I just shoot an AR... cheaper to feed, brass is everywhere Winchester White box shooters congregate.

Okay, back to the gas cylinder lock tool.... I just used my left hand while the right hand cranked on the gas plug with the combo tool wrench end. Anything tighter was not necessary.... biatch to get off.

Cheers,
Barney

Neither of you have M-14s. What a paradigm shift this is. I can see what you mean, though; I have spent more time rebuilding parts, modifying pieces and collecting junk for my M-14s than I have spent shooting it. I'm like that with all of my guns, come to think of it.

Kinda what I figured, though I'm going to make myself one anyway. It'll be good practice in the shop on a slow day.
Well, that and I'm a kitslut. :p

I will eventually build another K.I.S.S. iron sighted shorty M14.

Not sure when but eventually.

SKBY.
