M-305 feeding from stripper clips.

OK, since I'm a novice at the larger .30 caliber rifles, I've got to ask.

With the 5 round mags being the rule, is there any downside to using strippers instead of buying extra mags?

I won't be scoping my gun, and probably won't be going out for 3 gun. I'd rather load up a pile of strippers while watching the tube, than fritz around with mag loading at the bench.

I think its a cool factor with the stripper clips but so are the mags.

Stripper clips are pretty easy to load

Stripper clips are much cheaper, too. I prefer the stripper clips, myself.

I will order some stripper clips myself when I get my rifle. I think they will be faster to reload than the mags. You can still get optics but they will have to be the forward mounted scout configuration.

We are talking about the standard 5 round stripper clips.

5 rounders. Nothing to grab unless you stick some accessory to help ot out. I load the stripper on my german mauser fairly quickly. Last shot goes and holds the bolt back, shove the stripper in from the top, push rounds in, pull bolt and rock. You have to turn the rifle side ways to find the entry with the mag. It's about the operator practicing with what works form them in the end. Have both and practice both. It's only because on the 5 round limit that makes the stripper so much more appealing. It's a good option or addition to the latter.

The stripper clips are real easy to use. Takes about 5 seconds to reload.

I have used strippers for many years for the M-14. Our matches have a 10 round stage at 200m, in 30 seconds. It is quicker to use strippers than to change magazines. During the National Match in the states they have a sitting stage at 200m with 10 rounds in one minute. I found the use of strippers to be quicker and smother than a mag change.
