M 305 markings

Hi I just picked up my new M 305 from Dark International. Seems like a nice rifle. It came with 3 Mags, combination tool, cleaning kit, Oil bottle and a chamber brush and a sling. All for $ 442.00 (plus taxes )

The fit and finish seem quite good The furniture is even not bad Although a nice GI stock will most likely be in the works soon

I'm planning to fire it this coming weekend. I notice that the receiver has some markings on it that I'm unsure of. They are as follows:

"CJA sfld mich" Any idea on the meaning of this marking

CJA (China Jin An or something like that) is the US importer these rifles were intended for before Clinton banned Norinco pistols and military style rifles in 1994. I don't know if just the receivers are NOS, or the entire rifles, but going by the s/n they seem to have just been recently assembled.

Norinco M14 Serial Number Database - North America
Norinco M14 type rifles have been exported to the United States and Canada. I'm trying to build a list of serial numbers to see what serial number ranges were imported by various companies. Norinco M14 type rifles exported to Canada and the United States have the model designations "M14", "M-14" and "M14 Sporter." If there are any other model designations please let me know.

If you don't mind please post Norinco M14 serial numbers and the importers here or PM me. You can change the last digit or two to "X" for privacy. See separate thread for Polytech Industries M14 rifles.
