Have a pondering?...currently own an old M 305 standard lenght barrel and now i see all these new shorty M 305s out there and wonder if one should purchase the new shorty verson or stick with my standard lenght barrel and just use the money to upgrade that one some more.

thanks for your time

The shorty will not give the bullet the extra velocity gained by those last few inches of barrel. On the other hand, as a bush rifle, it is ideal for those hunts you would have in mind.

Its all personal preference really. I have a full length 2007 in a Boyds stock to keep the classic look, and a 2012 shorty with a Blackfeather on it for a modern battle rifle build I'm working on. The only real answer is to buy one of each :)

Im only staying away from a shorty because there have been a few kabooms that have happened with barrels blowing off ect . on CGN users guns .. I seen CanAm was proof testing them with a ultra hot load at the Squamish Gun club , not sure but i cant find any threads of kabooms with full size rifles?? Seems like these shortys have more issues ?? I might just cut down one of my full size rifles .

I have one of each. Like 'em both. If I had to keep just one, it would probably be the 22" one. Ask me tomorrow and you might get a different answer.

Agreed.

I have tried all of them and I'm currently in the process of thinning my collection down to a 22" in a SAGE EBR and a 16.25" in a Blackfeather RS.
