I've owned one of the recent models and put approximately 1000rnds through it with no issues whatsoever.

I had only the following two complaints:
-Safety is ridiculously tough to manipulate
-The receiver and handguard don't mate/lock-up perfectly; barrel movement/play can be introduced by knocking barrel one way or the other which of course affects accuracy.

Ultimately I sold the rifle because of the handguard/receiver fit.
If the fitment between upper and lower were to get addressed I would 100% buy another one; great rifle otherwise.

I’m confused.

Does the barrel stay where it was deflected to? Or does it rebound, returning to center, like most rifles?

Also, isn’t the hand-guard monolithic with the receiver? Or is it the lower receiver that won’t mate correctly with the upper receiver?

Just curious and have a question for you, there is a set screw on the lower side of the handguard jsut in front of the hinge connecting the upper and lower receivers. Tightening that is what secures the handguard to the barrel/receiver assembly.

M+M stated somewhere that the torque spec for that is soemthing like 40 in/lbs, but don’t quote me on the exact value, on your rifle was that loose or have you tightened it down?

Just my taste here, but I’d never buy any rifle with the maple leaf on it, especially in these weird times for the gun community.

I had one of these a few months ago and the thing was a single shot POS. Even if they fixed their QC issues I wouldn’t ever buy one again after being out 2K. And I really wouldn’t buy one if the flag was on it. That’s really just adding insult to injury in my opinion. Canadian edition guns aren’t a good idea anymore given how much our country is failing.

If these guns were sub $1500 and were as reliable as the CZ/VZ's that were put in the penalty box, I'd consider.

None for me! If I want to sport a Canadian flag, I would put it on a swag on my hat or plate carrier. But sorry not on my guns, especially as big as the one on OP picture. Make any guns look so cheesy.

Plus, Justin and all of the Canadians who voted for him have made this country a big example of socialist and communist country in the world stage. Embarrassing!

Need "none of the above" on the poll.

Interesting. I didn't know about the 40in/lbs.

In my situation, the monolithic rail (solid piece) did fasten as designed to the receiver/barrel via that set screw and I definitely overtightened that set screw.
When set screw was overtightened the receiver and barrel would move noticeably (yaw?) to the right within the rail at the barrel end and rear of receiver would move to the left within the rail. I also do remember that if I backed off the set screw, things looked straight again.

Now, in my case with less torque on the set screw I could physically grab the barrel and then pull it towards the right while pushing on the rail (10~15lbs of force) and recreate the off-centered angle (and it would stay there). This put me off.

The receiver is cast and had some really uneven surface area above where the piston passes through. I blamed that at the time as it looks like it makes contact with the rail underside and could cause what I was seeing (uneven fit / obstruction.)

Keeping an open mind now though. Perhaps down the road I'll pick another up as it did function flawlessly.

For vote: OD Green and small (prefer none) leaf.

Took a look and it’s actually 50 in/lbs for that set screw, this is a reply from M+M on the Facebook group below.

Yes, you have to loosen the set screw before taking it apart. That set screw is what's locking the aluminum upper extrusion to the steel internal receiver, and what eliminates any wiggle between them that would throw off POI/POA.

Spec is 50 in/lbs when you retighten.

I’m not familiar enough with the design to comment on what what was going on with your rifle but from what you describe definitely doesn’t sound right and would account for poor accuracy.

I haven't really been following the various issues closely, what was the issue with the bolts, when was it fixed and is this issue considered a warranty fix?

North Sylva's getting some pretty good feedback so far, maybe they will weigh in?

Hopefully NS will chime in with some information but from what I’ve read there were issues with bolt lugs breaking due to an improperly heat treated batch, some excessive wear on the cam surfaces and issues with the ejector spring/pin binding causing ejection issues.

They’ve also gone through some different surface treatments in the bolts as they’ve been revised/improved. One good point I have read is that they seem willing to ship replacement parts up here under warranty.

Come on guys, decals on rifles add +5 range and + 10 stopping value, while ignoring armour don't ya know.

And in all honesty, the large majority of casuals out there would probably eat up having a design on the side of their rifle.
