M+M M10x+ Gen 3 review

I want to justify a Gen 3 but my Gen 2 is eating up ammo with reckless abandon.

I’m pretty sure mine has many of the Gen 3 upgrades but I can’t be sure - It came with the multicolor bolt.

It’s been accurate on my short-ish range - my property is heavily wooded and I can’t get more than maybe 50-60 yards in most areas.

I may just pull the trigger on a 3 regardless.

Of note my M10x was from CSC.

… a crap… I’m buying another rifle…

Get pink pistol grip, Mlok slot covers, magazine and foregrip for the Gen 2 and give it to your wife or daughter, and get the Gen 3 for yourself.

I’ll still take the sks and a couple crates of ammo and have money left over, truth be told I find the M10 pretty clunky looking. It doesn’t do much for me, reminds my of that Scorpio chassis for the sks that never went anywhere lol.

Each to their own. At the end of the day however, this IS a thread about the M10X, not its lower-priced ancestor.....

I guess that’s subjective. If you like old milsurps then I suppose you should stick with an sks. I am enjoying the modern features and ergonomics tho. I always really disliked the ergos of my sks. That’s why I always seem to get rid of them.

The accuracy so far (for me) unfortunately has been about on par with an SKS though.
Also not a SKS fan although I do have one.

The M10x interested me when it was first announced, except for all the issues on launch. It’s getting more interesting now.

I will say, that I do miss my $700 CZ858. Lacked a lot of tgd modern ergos ( optic mounting) but was one of the few comblock firearms I really liked. That and the czech surplus ammo shot decently.

Thanks for the review. It was a good read.

How does this compare to say a cz bren2 in 7.62x39?

I agree. Bartok made it kind of nice looking with the short barrel and the folding stock but the chassis above is just pure ugly. Like the SKS scorpio as you said.

The SKS holds an important post as a historical piece that captures the pre and post WW2 work of transitioning service rifles from bolt actions to semi-autos, and full power rifle rounds capable of effective volley fire at distance to intermediate rounds designed for changing combat realities, but as a tarted-up modern-ish carbine, its lipstick on a pig.

The WK181 may be closing on half price of the M+M M10x Gen3 plus, but the Gen 2s are ~1,600 - 1,700$ That closes the gap considerably between the two.
If they are both running right, the internal operating systems is no comparison; the 550 system the M+M copies insofar as quality and robust construction, is miles ahead of the 180 system, especially in this caliber.

The T81 offers an equally robust operating system albeit on the crude side, but fails to offer an integrated optics mounting solution. If you factor in a quality mounting platform like a master mount, you are all-in for over the price of a Gen 2 M10x at today's pricing of the T81.

If the M+M can be shown to be capable of decent shooting with quality ammo, it would be a lot easier to pull the trigger on one.

My thoughts too, sorting out all the longevity and reliability issues is only 50% of what is needed to convince me to buy one. For the price it MUST display consistent accuracy below 3moa with ammo that it likes, none of this freak show 4 - 5+moa at best nonsense i frequently read and heard about with the gen 1s and 2s. A rifle marketed as being perfect, with premium features and a somewhat premium price tag should group better then a sweat shop AK and a 80 year old SKS.

I got a BelOMO PO 4x17p that would fit awesome with a Gen 3 M10x. Come on M+M, make me eat my words finally.

Pretty much my thoughts regarding the issue. As much as I like the integrated rail for optics of the M10x or the WK181, my first priority is and always will be reliability.

If the gen 2 would be reliable, there would be no need to offer a gen 3. The price stays at almost 2,300 - just buy a gen 2 if you are so convinced or talk yourself into it. I don't need a jammatic if using surplus ammo. Just watch the guys on youtube who still bought a gen2 - because this time it will be better. Only 10 jams in 100 rounds - not bad, haha.

That video was posted a year ago. Presumably before the Gen3 plus and those same lifecycle upgrades offered by CSC.
The Gen 2s the CSC has that have been updated with Gen 3 parts are in the 1600-1700 range.

M+M speak to the upgrades here:
EDIT: Looks like M+M didn't want to make that video public for some reason...which I find a bit strange as I would have assumed they want as much positive attention drawn to these rifles as they can get considering the negative history they have.

the backwards cantilever mounts, garbage mags and cheap plastic are really winning em over

Cantilever mounts can be mounted backwards if they are 0 MOA. I looked into this a while ago. So now we are at the mags - as I mentioned above, do what you want and talk yourself into it.
