Well, I put some cash down on an SR-22 at the local WSS, then when I went to put another payment on it, I got to handle the M&P 15-22.

I couldn't go back.

I should have my rifle soon, but in the mean time I wanted to see what other folks were doing with theirs. The S&W forum has some crazy stuff on there, but I wanted to see what my ever industrius brothers in Canada were doing to modify and personalize their rifles.

Well.....?

FINALLY PICS!!!! (Lifting the FAIL off this thread!)

Well here's a few basic shots of my new S&W M&P15-22. This rifle seemed really flimsy at first, but on closer examination, I was impressed with how strong the parts that mattered are. I think the polymer upper and lower just gave it a "toyish" feeling initially. I'll run some rounds through her this week and give a bit of a review.

Now on to the pics!

Now some glamour shots

The burgeoning S&W M&P Family. Now that I have 2, maybe they'll start reproducing. I'll put some Barry White on in the gun room and see what happens! :D

These are pretty much "Before" shots. I'll be Magpul'n the hell out of this thing in Foliage Green, so there will be updates.

Let's see yer guns!!!

Nice rifle. I almost bought one several times...

The M&P15-22 is the reason for my latest project: A genuine 5.56 .22lr shooter ala Spike's conversion kit :D

I was sold on the SR22 because of the non-restricted status, but after handling this one, I had to have it. This way I can do some tac-rifle stuff and save my dough for a centerfire. This should tide me over until I can do an AR build of my own.

Exactly same thinking on this one... I was all about the "Non-Restricted," but I realized 99% of my shooting is done at the range anyway and there's no comparing real AR ergonomics.

I love the AR, but can't afford to feed it. :D I figured a real AR with .22lr would be the absolute best compromise ;)

That said, the M&P15-22 is probably the coolest dedicated .22lr rifle going. The price of your entire rifle is less than my builds barrel and upper receiver :p

Gratz~

By the time I accessorize it, I could probably go the same route as you though. lol

How accurate are these little rifles?
Anyone put a scope on one, and seriously tested it for accuracy?

One of these might be just the thing for training for Service Rifle competition, but it would need to be accurate.

How far are you planning on shooting?...:)

Back to 100. It would be great if the rifle could hold 3 minutes.
We have a reduced range version of the Service Rifle matches 1-16, fired from 100m in. The targets are exact scaled versions of the ones used back to 500m. The bulls are about 3 minutes of angle.
This rifle has exactly the same handling characteristics as a centrefire AR. If the accuracy was there, it would be an ideal training rifle.

I believe it can do what you describe. Many users down south in the US are using them for that exact thing. That's what I plan on doing with it. We'll see, though. I'll get it out and run it though it's paces. Until the extractor blows out, that is. lol

i'm doing 2" groups at 50 yds off the bench with iron sights
consistently with a variety of ammo

I'm in the process of installing a scope to see if this improves.

Well, if it is consistantly shooting 4 minutes at 50y with fairly coarse, short sight radius irons, it should certainly do well enough with a scope.

Hi everybody! The front page of the September "Guns and Weapons for Law and Enforcement" talk about the Smith and Wesson MP15 22. By the way you should have it.
The rifle is the MP15 22 MOE, it is an acronyme for Magpul Original Equipement.
The gun test was made at 50 yards by the magazine. Grouping in inches.
