hello everyone,
a question if I may,
I am thinking of doing a retro project on a S&W M&P 15-22
I am aware that many parts are interchangable btwn the M&P and AR's etc, but was wondering if the standard Armalite M15A4 stock can be put on the M&P without any modification.
I am not too fimiliar with the AR platform, and would appreciate any help and advice in this matter
thankyou for your time and consideration

Replacement stock

I presume you mean a fixed A1/A2 stock? If so, the answer is no.

The M&P 15-22 has a fixed lower receiver extension/buffer tube that is effectively a 6 position milspec buffer tube. Any milspec size collapsible stock will fit. Any others (civilian spec, UBR, fixed) will require cutting/removal/ replacement/ etc.

Hope that helps.

Regards.

You could have the original plastic stock tube sawn off and then have the reciever drilled and tapped to accept stock tubes. Then install the stock of your choice. Unfortunatly the rear of the reciever is slightly odd shaped so a standard A2 stock will leave a few gaps.

The fore stock is a bit of a problem IMHO as there is no way to alter what you have to accept any other fore stock. The barrel is attached to the reciever via a barrel nut all the way inside the OEM fore stock. The fore stock is actually sandwiched in between the nut and the reciever. If not for the spacer at the end of the fore stock it would be a floating fore end.

Cheers!

ya,
thank you ' notsorichguy '
Just too much plastic on this thing, and not really worth hacking it up just for a look
it was just a thought... and now that thought is gone hahaha
I'll just stick with what it came with... it still is a nice looking rifle
thank you everyone
