seems to be a bargain basement model. It would be nice to get some uppers and whole rifles. The 5.56 thing is an obstacle. Were the original mp15s 556?

Why can't you have 5.56?
Because the US Department of State says that's "military". Can't have any American "military" technology exported, even to friendly nations. Might wind up in the hands of al Qaeda, after all.

Same goes for anything marked 7.62x51, 7.62mm NATO, etc. If it says .308 Winchester however, that's A-OK! Apparently .308 Winchester is somehow less lethal and less "military" than 7.62 NATO.

Yeah, I'm about as confused as you are.

WRONG. Almost all NATO countries are ITAR exempt except us. Thank you Mr. Paul Martin and Defence Minister Pratt - for specifically asking to not be exempt. f@cktards.

Has anyone thought of bringing this up with their MP or something? Now that we have a real government maybe they can be lobbyed. Any thoughts?

That whole ITAR thing really picks at my craw, good thing the politicians know what they are doing or not. Only thing I can say is I didn't vote for them. Biggest trading partner but No we don't want to be exempt!?! Claven2 you hit the nail on the head.
