Hi guys,

Not sure if this has been posted, I did a search to no avail. I recently purchased a M&P 22 and 6 extra 10 round factory magazines.

I attempted to disassemble the magazine for cleaning. But the floor plate didn't budge. Are the Canadian or US compliant versions have non removable floor plates or do I just have to man up? I just don't want to break the magazine as they're hard to find.

Thanks in advance,

Zulu5

Funny you ask. I have 3 and just today tried to take mine apart for a good cleaning. I only tried one and it did slide off but it was a very tight fit. Keep going it will come off.

I have four factory 10-rd mags and one riveted mag. All disassemble with zero issue. Base plate retainer is easily pushed in on all five.

Alpining has got me thinking. I assumed you knew that the small button on the bottom needed to be pushed in before you could slide the base over. You did know that didn't you.

I did depress the retaining button, no joy.

I also fired off an email to S&W, I've attached it below for your reading pleasure.

Dear Customer,

The newer MP22 magazines are not meant to be taken apart. They are permanently attached to the magazine tube.

If further assistance is required please reply accordingly.

Sincerely,

Steve

I just bought the new mags less then a week ago and they all come apart and go back together. They must have been sitting on the shelf for a little while.
