Well i will get right to it.........

FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having owned an M&P 9, I can say this is a very close replica, and would make a great trainer.

Fit and finish is just as good as the originals, and the quality of the gun is obvious when you take it apart. Nothing about it felt cheap, and I was very impressed as I was expecting something along the lines of a P22. ;)

The mags are very well made, and really impressed me, but you have to be careful loading them, making sure rounds are settling properly as you go.

The only downside is the safety which is a little out of place, but it really didn't bother me, and I may chop it off, but we will see what happens.

I have owned several .22 pistols(Ruger 22/45, Sig Mosquito, Norc M93, CZ Kadet), but I think that this has to be the favourite so far, or at least a close second to the CZ Kadet, but after price is considered the M&P wins. ;)

I put over 200 rounds of various ammo through it without a single failure. I had 100 rounds of Blazer, and 100 rounds of CCI Standard Velocity, as well as a handful of Winchester Expert HV, and they all worked just fine. The Blazer seemed pretty hard hitting compared to the others, but even the Standard Velocity cycled just fine which was impressive.

This was in no way a test for accuracy, and I didn't bother adjusting the sights as I had no idea which ammo she would like. The sights seemed to be a little off, and shots were slightly left, but it could have been me not being used to the heavier, mushy trigger. Accuracy was very good, the best being with the Standard Velocity with some one hole groups at 5 meters.

Bottom line is, if you are considering a .22 pistol, and don't like the space-guns that are the typical performers on the market, then the M&P 22 is a hell of a good deal.

Of course I have not torture tested it, but the reports all over the internet are very promising. ;)

I am working on some pictures as we speak, so hold your horses! :p

1000 UPDATE:

Well I have just gone over 1000 rounds today, and still haven't cleaned the gun!!! :D

Full disclosure - I did have to run a bore brush through it to clean out some leading left by some Blazer today. I have put a box of Blazer through it on it's first trip without issue, but today I put 100 rounds of Blazer through it, and after about 60 rounds noticed accuracy was gone, and of course the bore was leaded real bad with the ####ty Blazer... After that it ran fine with the remaining 40, and then another couple hundred of the Winchester Xpert HV.

Anyways, it still has not been oiled since the original cleaning, and I haven't cleaned any of the gunk off the rails, or out of the action. It is absolutely caked in powder residue at this point, as cheap bulk .22 will do that, so I think she deserves a cleaning at this point. ;)

Most of the 1000 rounds has been the Winchester Xpert HV Bulk packs, but it has seen about 100 rounds of CCI Standard Velocity, 150 Rounds of CCI Blazer, and a couple 50 round boxes of various ammo in initial testing.

It really seems to love the Winchester Xpert, and runs great with pretty good groupings, but the most consistent groups tend to come from the CCI Standard Velocity.

Couldn't tell you which ammo is which in these groups, but these are just some of the best 5 round groups from the last few trips.

All shot between 7 and 10 meters......

Anyways I am extremely happy so far, and the gun has only had a 2 failures in 1000 rounds, both of which seemed to be underloaded rounds that did not cycle the slide enough for the next round to strip off of the mag. Regardless for a .22 this thing is absolutely amazing! The fact that it is yet to be cleaned is even more amazing IMHO.

Only complaint that I have is the damn mags are impossible to find and I need more! LOL

If you are on the fence about this gun, do yourself a favour, and go buy it now!!!!!!!

The M&P22 comes with one mag.

I had mine out for the first time yesterday and my impressions are very much the same as mlehtovaara's. I fired American Eagle 36gr HP's and Federal 525 value pack rounds with no malfunctions. I ordered 3 extra mags with mine.

I have an M&P9 so its very familiar. The backstrap is not removable and is somewhere between the small and medium backstrap of the M&P9/40. the rear sight does not have the dots. I'm not sure I like the rear sight. I might replace it or paint it.

Overall I'm very happy with the M&P22.

This is very interesting, for some reason I had it in my head I would never want to own a .22 pistol, but this thing is legit, beautiful, and I'll already be stocked with Ammo for my Rifle. I will have to look into this (RPAL should be here next week!)

Any opinions (now there's a loaded question on this site :D ) on how it would be as a first pistol for the kids to shoot? I have a couple of younglings that are seriously interested and I am debating between this and a 1911 pattern type pistol. They are on the smaller side of the human genome. I have an M&P 9 already which is awesome, and will be awesomer once the APEX trigger gets installed.

The grip is not small. This would be the only downside IMHO.

You might consider a Norc M93 for them. Really small grip. ;)

I just so happen to be selling mine. LOL

Might be too big for really small hands as stated by mlehtovaara. My 4 and 6 year old's had trouble reaching the trigger, which is to be expected, after all is the exact same size as the M&P9/40 and only a couple ounces lighter. I basically held the gun for them and they just pulled the trigger.

My wife liked it very much and found it easy to grip, which is good because its actually her's, as soon as she gets her RPAL that is.

Held one the other day. It was ok but too much plastic and alum for my tastes. Same reason I don't like the GSG, I guess. Much prefer my all steel Rugers..

Interested in this as my first .22LR, which I know very little about. Can this be dry fired? Is it as easy to clean as a regular M&P?

I want to practice with this to get better at shooting 9mm polymer striker guns. Would this be recommended, or should I get a Ruger/Buckmark instead?

hey mhel,

if you want to get rid of the thumb safety it pops right out if you take out the rear housing block, just have to punch out the rear pin take out the rear block, and teh safety is right under it and just comes out, at least it does on my .45
