No sh*t eh. Never heard this problem yet with this model. Ive read people have put thousands of rounds through theirs without hick ups. I hope S&W makes it right, and this does not become a problem or flaw with this model. Your thoughts on why it may have occurred? As again, i have yet to hear about this problem with the M&P 22.

One of our guys broke his take down lever. It has been at the warranty centre for six months. There dosn't seem to be any kind of after sale support for the gun.

Could the take down lever not be purchased as a replacement part and install it yourself?

None in Canada to buy. Installing would be the easy part.

No support is the problem from what I can see. I think you are better off buying a pistol designed to be a .22 rather that the ones that are either based upon or are copies of center fired pistols. The exception being the CZ Kit. It sets the standards that others are based on.

Hmmm, not good to hear. Makes me re-think now, as support and turn around time are big imo. Also looking at a GSG 1911, anyone know how they are? I'm assuming parts would be easily changed on a GSG?

I have the top end conversion kit. It's been reliable for me but it has some downsides. The finish sucks. It chips where the ejected case hits. I'm sure it will wear elsewhere as well. It also feels cheap (for ~$200 what else did I expect?).

I changed the sights to Dlask fiber optic front and adjustable rear. The front dropped in but I had to modify the rear to get it to fit. It looks like a Novak cut but it's narrower. I changed them because mine was hitting high at 7 yards even with the tallest front sight. I'm hoping this will resolve that (I will find out tomorrow).

Honestly, I think a dedicated .22 platform like a Ruger mk lll or a Browning Buckmark would be less of a hassle over the long run. I like that I can use my 1911 frame set up as I like it, but that's about the only upside to .22LR clones

Agree with this.. was looking at the Colt / Walther 22 1911 and it seems better built but I never had a chance to pick one up..

i have a bunch of 22 pistols (M&P22, GSG1911, Ruger 22/45, Browning Buckmark, ect ect)
they are all the same at the end of the day.
ive never had any fail and have had no problems that i can think of for any of them.

the M&P 22 is nice if you are shooting anything in the M&P centerfire family, train on the cheap.

I would not assume anything. Do yourself a favour and go with a Browning Buckmark or a Ruger. Both are better options. The CZ Kit is the only kit I have seen that will shoot with either the Browning or Ruger.

One thing to consider, if you reload, you can almost reload 9MM cheaper than you can buy .22lr ammo right now.
